Introduction:
Welcome to the -|[n0s]|- Rules, Regulations and Guidelines Section! I hope you find this information as useful as I have since compiling this over the past few months. These Admin Rules and Guidelines came into existence due to my experiences on the -|[n0s]|- server as well as from visiting others in the Counter Strike community.
Purpose:
This section is available for your use and benefit when performing Admin functions on the
-|[n0s]|- server. Here you will find a list of Rules and Guidelines you must follow while performing your functions as a -|[n0s]|- Admin as well as what behavior is NOT expected from server Admins. The main objective of an -|[n0s]|- Admin is to ensure that our game server is free from disruptive, abusive and/or cheating players.
Section One: -|[n0s]|- Policy in Dealing with Admin Abuse(s) of Responsibility or Conduct:
This is the standard to which you, as a Server Administrator, will be held accountable for misconduct. In most cases, the situation will be dealt with over a 4 step process. *Leaders reserve the right to veto any decisions, modify the process including omitting or bypassing steps, if any such actions are deemed necessary*
First Step: Complaint
Second Step: Follow Up
Third Step: Suspension / Disregard
Fourth Step: Reinstatement
Section Two: General Admin Rules & Guidelines:
The following Guidelines are to be observed and enforced by all active -|[n0s]|- Server Admins. Failure to comply can result in serious consequences up to: A) Suspension of Admin rights; B) termination of Admin rights and; C) Complete discharge from -|[n0s]|-.
1) When designated as a -|[n0s]|- Administrator, you are immediately placed in a position of responsibility. As a -|[n0s]|- Admin you are held to the following policies and practices: A) You are not to be involved in more than one Clan at a time (i.e. Clan hopping, mercenary activity, "ringing" etc); B) You are not to form any other Clan/team that directly conflicts with your duties and responsibilities as a -|[n0s]|- Admin. Doing so will get you and any reference to your Clan removed from -|[n0s]|- and Banned from playing on our server; C) Once becoming an Admin, and you find that you now would like to create your own Clan/team, you are hereby advised to resign your Admin position to eliminate any conflict(s) that may arise; D) In the role of -|[n0s]|- Admin you are forbidden from promoting your own Clan, server, website(s) directly or indirectly on the -|[n0s]|- server. As stated earlier, this will cause permanent removal of you and your new Clan from our games server and websites.
1a) -|[n0s]|- Tag and Admin Names(s): As a Member of -|[n0s]|- and especially as an -|[n0s]|- Administrator, you are REQUIRED to wear your registered nickname and -|[n0s]|- tag at ALL times while playing on our server. The wearing of your tag/nickname also applies even if/when you are representing our Clan on other public or private servers. If at any time you choose to change your nickname, your new nickname must be easily recognizable as to whom you are as an Admin and/or Member. Changing names indiscriminately or excessively is not acceptable behavior for our Administrators. From time to time Senior Admins (Team Leaders) may enter the server concealing their real identity to check on game play or Admin conduct etc. At ALL other times proper nicknames and Clan tag must be worn.
2) -|[n0s]|- Administrators are to treat ALL players participating on our server with both courtesy and respect. Treat those in such a way as you would want to be treated in similar circumstances. Admins must be courteous and respectful at all times as your behavior reflects positively or negatively on our Clan. Player’s perceptions of -|[n0s]|- can be directly related to their enjoyment level on our server and equally on how they are treated by the Administrators. This does not mean that you are powerless to deal with rude, obnoxious, cheating or disruptive players.
3) Never show anger, or retaliate with improper application of your Admin status. Always remain calm, impartial, rational and professional at all times. Avoid arguments with other players. You are a -|[n0s]|- Admin and as such, you are being held to a higher standard.
4) As an Admin, under no circumstances are you to comment on certain playing styles of players participating on our server. As an Admin, you are to make no comment and certainly take no action UNLESS the player’s actions are deliberately being used to disrupt the server enviroment or flow of play. As long as there are genuine attempts to complete the map objectives, Administrators should allow players to attempt and/or complete map objectives in their own way.
5) -|[n0s]|- Admins will show the utmost respect for other Clans who visit our server from time to time. You are considered THE model of what -|[n0s]|- stands for and are our official representative to all players who visit our server. Act accordingly.
6) Your position as Server Administrator does not give you the authority to use your Admin powers for personal gain or to improve your server statistics. Refrain from using your Admin powers to stack teams.
7) Do not slap, bury, slay, teleport, blind, llama, kick or slander players who kill you or are seemingly more skilled than you, for entertainment purposes, or just because they have requested you to do so.
8) If you are approached about Clan Membership advise players that if they want to become -|[n0s]|- Members the best way to do this is to be active, frequent visitors to our server and that they are friendly, mature and competent Counter Strike players.
9) Please respect your fellow Admin’s in game decisions. Here at -|[n0s]|- we use the Chain of Command to maintain order within the Clan and on the game server. Please be aware that all Admins are different and each one has their own distinct way of dealing with similar situations. This is somewhat acceptable within limits. Misuse of Admin privileges will NOT be tolerated.
9a) It is advisable not to kick -|[n0s]|- Members from the server at any time. There are exceptions though, including but not limited to: A) gross misconduct or; C) undisciplined, disruptive, or malicious behavior. Members exhibiting these types of actions must first be warned, firmly yet politely, to cease desist inappropriate behavior. Report your concerns to your Clan Leaders if any particular Member misbehaves even after being asked not to. Please take down the Members STEAM ID, their nickname and date/time when the incident occurred.;
10) It is in every Admins best interest to be liberal in the use of vote commands. The -|[n0s]|- game server has been created for the enjoyment of its’ Clan Members and Guests, as well as for joining players. It is not there for -|[n0s]|- Admins use alone. We would like to think that the majority’s interests are paramount over the interests of just one or two players.
10a) Concerning in game map votes and/or map changes. Presently our server has a map Rotation. Please honor this rotation with few map changes as possible. Players with preferences to this rotation are joining our server for this specific reason... to play the maps IN the rotation. If you as an Admin would like to play other maps that you enjoy, by all means post a map vote for the map in question.
10b) -|[n0s]|- practice set-up in regards to map changes: When a Clan practice, or scrimmage has been scheduled on our server, the map change policy will be altered to suit our needs. The subsequent map change, or any other change to the server environment would not be in need of a general vote.
11) Passwords: Our server has the ability to be password protected. There are several instances where this can be very beneficial to our Clan. There can also be abuse of this feature. As it stands now, there are only two reasons for the server to be secured by password and that is during practice sessions or league events.
Section Three:
-|[n0s]|- Server Kick and Ban Procedures:
Unfortunately, Kicking/Banning players who are disruptive, cheating, team killing/wounding on purpose, swearing excessively, exploiting map bugs, using racist in game names/making racist comments has become an all too common occurrence while playing Counter Strike. To combat this, -|[n0s]|- has come up with its’ own set of Guidelines to assist all Admins in their Admin responsibilities. It is important to everyone that a standard be followed to limit the use or misuse of these responsibilities.
It is our intention to use the Kick and Ban commands as a last resort It is our intention to apply these commands only when necessary and after all other attempts to control server behavior has failed. Admins have various methods of controlling improper server behavior at their disposal. Before Kicking and/or Banning individuals, Admins can use and are encouraged to use, the following measures without fear of reprisals; bury, slay, slap, llama, and/or generally make “life” miserable for the offending player. We would like to see disruptive players leave our server voluntarily.
Requirements for -|[n0s]|- Admin Use of Server Ban and/or Kick Command:
1) Please identify yourself as a -|[n0s]|- Admin (-|[n0s]|- tag, correct “in game” name) and advise the player(s) that his behavior, game play or actions are unsatisfactory;
2) Tell the player to cease the behavior in question. Be polite but firm. This is the time to eliminate any confusion as to what is expected from players playing on our server. Inform the player of our server Rules, and our Code of Conduct;
3) If after informing the player of our server requirements and the disruptive play continues, tell the player that he will be kicked or banned if he continues with his course of action. If you see no change in the players’ game play, behavior, or he is openly defying your authority, it is well within your power to begin the Kick/Ban process. Please “encourage” the player to leave voluntarily by using any and all means necessary to achieve this end. After kicking the offending player, there may be a need to deal with the removed player if the server is rejoined. Watch the player in question. If the disruptive player returns and continues with the improper actions, you are to inform him that you will Ban if no change is seen immediately. If no change is apparent you now have the right to Ban the player using two of the following options;
This can be condensed to the following:
1st Occurrence - Verbal warning
2nd Occurrence - Verbal warning
3rd Occurrence - Use of Admin powers (i.e. llama, slap, bury etc.)
Kick
Ban for timelimit
Ban indefinitely (based on severity of players actions)
Assorted Reasons for Use of the Kick Command:
*Not Previously Mentioned in Above Text*
1) Players who are AFK (Away from Keyboard) for an extended length of time. Watch players who are AFK for in excess of 3 rounds or more. Exceptions to this rule would include Administrators who are present on the server. Generally, do not kick Admins from the server at any time. Admins though, should limit their AFK time whether watching game play, monitoring players or in chat mode;
2) Players with a consistent ping level of approximately 120 or better.
3) Hostage Killing, Improper game play of players whose responsibility it is to carry the bomb or who are tasked with guarding hostages must be monitored closely;
4) Knowingly impersonating -|[n0s]|- Guests, Members or Administrators. Warn offending players to remove any/all references to -|[n0s]|- from their “in game” name and advise that further infractions will result in an automatic Kick from server and/or temporary Ban;
5) Players who slander or make constant derogatory comments concerning -|[n0s]|- players, Guests, Administrators, servers or websites. Please warn them and if the behavior continues kick them for all instances of this type. Ask any and all players exhibiting this type of behavior to find another server on which to play;
5a) Flaming - In addition to “in game” flaming by players, posting inappropriate messages on -|[n0s]|- forums, can also lead to the Kicking of said players from the games server and Banning if there is sufficient reason.
6) Spawn Killing - Any player(s) who use their spawn position as an advantage to kill or wound an opposing player at the beginning of a round, is considered a spawn killer.
7) Team Killing (TK) - Team Wounding (TW) – Team Attacking (TA) - As of this time the -|[n0s]|- server is a designated Friendly Fire (FF) server. Please inform any/all disruptive players that repeated instances of Team Killing or Team Wounding/Team Attacking will result in disciplinary measures up to and including permanent Ban;
9) Team Stacking
10) Inappropriate Tags, Nicknames or sprays.
11) Cheats/ Hacks/ For simplification purposes, Admins must be aware of the following when dealing with cheats, cheating, use of hacks, exploits etc. You are only permitted to Kick/Ban players if you are COMPLETELY certain that they are in fact, cheating. You can only be completely certain of this by using several methods at your disposal over and above the server Anti-Cheat measures. The easiest of these methods would have an Admin observing (for some time perhaps for many rounds and map rotations), players who are exhibiting obvious, visible cheat “effects” such as “Speed Cheats”, “Aimbots” or “Wallhacks” etc. Cheating on the -|[n0s]|- server will be dealt with quickly and harshly, but only after our Administrators have made thorough and diligent assessments of each individual case. At NO time should you Ban players suspected of cheating (i.e. high kill to death ratio, frequent headshots etc.) where you simply suspect, but cannot confirm, that cheating is taking place. You will not confirm a player is cheating with one observation or by an offhanded remark or with a questionable kill. It takes much experience and time consuming attention to discern players who are cheating.
Section Four:
Dealing with Cheats/Cheaters and their Associated Issues:
-|[n0s]|- definitions will give you an idea of some of the terminology of what we consider cheats, hacks, exploits or bugs present in our game.
-|[n0s]|- Definitions:
Cheat/Hack –
1) Any/all programs/software that changes or alter Counter Strike functions;
2) Any/all programs/software that run outside of Counter Strike proper or required files to be edited to work;
3) Any/all methods that improve play or give advantage to a player, that normally do not have access to, while in game (i.e. ESP, Wallhacks, Aimbots etc.)
Honourable Mention Concerning Cheating:
1) Lanning/Ghosting: It can also occur when 2 or more people set up multiple computer game/workstations within a residence in a network situation. When “Lanning”, cheating can take many forms. They include looking at another players screen for personal advantage or verbally passing on information to players (alive or dead) that could not be known by the general population involved in game play etc. While this type of cheating is very hard to prove there can be some “tell tale” signs that give their secret away. Similar ping characteristics between players. Players in the same Clan that appear to work together without using voice/text chat. Also, their use of voice communication in such a way as to seem that they know information not available to others in the same game. In some cases, players will even inform you that they are in fact Lanning that is why they were able to complete objectives in certain ways. You as a -|[n0s]|- Admin must be vigilant and be prepared to deal with this type of behavior. You must also advise players to cease using their “situation” as an advantage or be subject to disciplinary measures;
2) Valve Voice/Text Communication: Voice communication has become a necessary and welcome addition to game play concerning Counter Strike. What is not acceptable within our Rules is the blatant disregard for players still in game that receive messages stating where players are (ghosting) or information to successfully complete objectives etc. Using voice/text messages in this way gives players an advantage that could not be achieved without assistance and in fact can be as bad as using a Wallhack/Aimbot. Please inform players using voice/text communication of what we consider acceptable. The use of the “llama” feature can be used as a deterrent if all reasonable methods fail to curb voice/text misuse;
2a) External Voice Communication Tools: Players have the ability to use communication tools not included in Counter Strike such as Instant Messengers, stand alone companion products like Battlecom, Game Voice, Roger Wilco, TeamSound, TeamSpeak or Ventrilo. While these products are in themselves not considered “cheats”, they can be used to a players advantage in much the same way as ghosting with voice/text messaging, Lanning or even Wallhacks. Players of similar ping who do not use any in game communication or Clanmates who do not talk (voice/text) to each other, yet are well coordinated in their team play, could be candidates using these types of tools. You may also have been monitoring game play of certain individuals who you have ruled out as not using Aimbots/Wallhacks but do not fit into the other categories mentioned in this section. Surprisingly, you may also receive information from other players that certain individuals are taking advantage of external programs. If you suspect that players are using external programs/tools improperly, please advise them to follow -|[n0s]|- Rules and Guidelines or stick with the communication tools provided within Counter Strike;
-|[n0s]|- Cheat Policy for Players, Guests, Members or Administrators:
*We deal with ALL cheaters in the same way. We do not allow favoritism or Membership to sway our judgment*
1) Cheating is unacceptable in ANY form. By our definition, cheating is considered to be any program, software, device or method that grants a player additional knowledge and/or an advantage over others while in game. -|[n0s]|- employs various methods to detect cheats. When one is found on your computer, you will be banned;
Section Five:
Ban Procedures and Requirements for -|[n0s]|- Admins:
Steps for -|[n0s]|- Server Banning of Individuals:
Step 1: Identify yourself as a Server Admin and advise the player in question that he is being monitored for improper game play, attitude or behavior;
Step 2: Make sure that the player is of the understanding that he is to be Banned if he does not IMMEDIATELY comply with your wishes.
Step 3: If you have not already done so, you are to record the player’s STEAM ID, Nickname(s), time, date, reason for Ban and any other relevant information (IP address etc. It is also a good idea to include the names of at least 2 other players present on the server to act as witnesses to the event of and to your actions.;
Step 4: Ban offending player for a specific timelimit 5 min - 24 hours (1440 min). Include reason for Ban (in point form) in console line so player knows what has happened and the reason for your actions.
Example: admin_ban “Teaser”/STEAM ID 12345678 1440 “for Team Killing”
Step 5: Ban offending player(s) indefinitely.
Example, admin_ban “Teaser”/STEAM ID 12345678 for using Wallhack.
Step 6: Save all information. Posting on our -|[n0s]|- website, the names of players who have been Banned, will hopefully bring a little shame to them and will also advertise to all that -|[n0s]|- is serious in controlling our server, that we stress fair play and favor sportsmanship above anything else.

Please warn them and if the behavior continues kick them for all instances of this type. Ask any and all players exhibiting this type of behavior to find another server on which to play;

1) Any/all programs/software that changes or alter Counter Strike functions;
2) Any/all programs/software that run outside of Counter Strike proper or required files to be edited to work;
3) Any/all methods that improve play or give advantage to a player, that normally do not have access to, while in game (i.e. ESP, Wallhacks, Aimbots etc.)
Honourable Mention Concerning Cheating:
1) Lanning/Ghosting: It can also occur when 2 or more people set up multiple computer game/workstations within a residence in a network situation. When “Lanning”, cheating can take many forms. They include looking at another players screen for personal advantage or verbally passing on information to players (alive or dead) that could not be known by the general population involved in game play etc. While this type of cheating is very hard to prove there can be some “tell tale” signs that give their secret away. Similar ping characteristics between players. Players in the same Clan that appear to work together without using voice/text chat. Also, their use of voice communication in such a way as to seem that they know information not available to others in the same game. In some cases, players will even inform you that they are in fact Lanning that is why they were able to complete objectives in certain ways. You as a -|[n0s]|- Admin must be vigilant and be prepared to deal with this type of behavior. You must also advise players to cease using their “situation” as an advantage or be subject to disciplinary measures;
2) Valve Voice/Text Communication: Voice communication has become a necessary and welcome addition to game play concerning Counter Strike. What is not acceptable within our Rules is the blatant disregard for players still in game that receive messages stating where players are (ghosting) or information to successfully complete objectives etc. Using voice/text messages in this way gives players an advantage that could not be achieved without assistance and in fact can be as bad as using a Wallhack/Aimbot. Please inform players using voice/text communication of what we consider acceptable. The use of the “llama” feature can be used as a deterrent if all reasonable methods fail to curb voice/text misuse;
2a) External Voice Communication Tools: Players have the ability to use communication tools not included in Counter Strike such as Instant Messengers, stand alone companion products like Battlecom, Game Voice, Roger Wilco, TeamSound, TeamSpeak or Ventrilo. While these products are in themselves not considered “cheats”, they can be used to a players advantage in much the same way as ghosting with voice/text messaging, Lanning or even Wallhacks. Players of similar ping who do not use any in game communication or Clanmates who do not talk (voice/text) to each other, yet are well coordinated in their team play, could be candidates using these types of tools. You may also have been monitoring game play of certain individuals who you have ruled out as not using Aimbots/Wallhacks but do not fit into the other categories mentioned in this section. Surprisingly, you may also receive information from other players that certain individuals are taking advantage of external programs. If you suspect that players are using external programs/tools improperly, please advise them to follow -|[n0s]|- Rules and Guidelines or stick with the communication tools provided within Counter Strike;
-|[n0s]|- Cheat Policy for Players, Guests, Members or Administrators:
*We deal with ALL cheaters in the same way. We do not allow favoritism or Membership to sway our judgment*
1) Cheating is unacceptable in ANY form. By our definition, cheating is considered to be any program, software, device or method that grants a player additional knowledge and/or an advantage over others while in game. -|[n0s]|- employs various methods to detect cheats. When one is found on your computer, you will be banned;
Section Five:
Ban Procedures and Requirements for -|[n0s]|- Admins:
Steps for -|[n0s]|- Server Banning of Individuals:
Step 1: Identify yourself as a Server Admin and advise the player in question that he is being monitored for improper game play, attitude or behavior;
Step 2: Make sure that the player is of the understanding that he is to be Banned if he does not IMMEDIATELY comply with your wishes.
Step 3: If you have not already done so, you are to record the player’s STEAM ID, Nickname(s), time, date, reason for Ban and any other relevant information (IP address etc. It is also a good idea to include the names of at least 2 other players present on the server to act as witnesses to the event of and to your actions.;
